Sustainability

Designing with the future in mind.

MDS considers how thoughtful choices in materials, furniture, products and planning can reduce waste and create solutions that remain useful for longer.

Our responsibility

Better choices for people and the planet.

At MDS, sustainability is part of the design conversation. We look beyond appearance and consider where products come from, what they are made of, how long they can be used and what happens when a space or organisation changes.

The most suitable approach will depend on each project. Where possible, we prioritise responsible materials, durable products, flexible solutions and the reuse of what is already available.

CSR at MDS

How MDS approaches CSR and sustainable design.

MDS considers environmental and social responsibility throughout the design process, from the first assessment to the materials, products and long term use of the final solution.

01

Responsible materials

We can recommend furniture and products made with recycled, renewable, responsibly sourced or materials with a lower environmental impact when suitable options are available.

02

Reuse before replacement

Existing furniture and materials are considered before new products are introduced, helping reduce unnecessary waste and protect the client’s earlier investment.

03

Designed to last

Durability, timelessness and adaptability help spaces, products and communication materials remain useful beyond temporary trends.

04

Flexible solutions

Modular furniture, adaptable layouts and multipurpose products can respond to changing needs without requiring a complete redesign.

How it becomes practical

Sustainability shaped around the project.

We discuss the client’s priorities at the beginning of the project and identify realistic opportunities within the design. This may include retaining existing items, selecting alternative materials, improving product longevity or creating a layout that can adapt over time.

Every recommendation is presented clearly so the client can understand the design benefit as well as the sustainability consideration behind it.
